"As in Half-Life you will be able to verbally interact with anybody on the ship and they you"

In keeping with the series, Voyager is being made to interconnect the specific time-scale incurred by the series with Paramount allowing Raven almost full freedom to do whatever they want with the game. This means Raven have the ability to re-produce this aspect of the Trek universe with their own unique style. As far as things go it looks like being a charismatic cross between the immortal Half-Life and the much sought after System Shock2, a worthy combination if ever there was.

Can you shoot Neelix then?

As briefly mentioned already, the key talking point for this game is that Raven are working on making it a TRUE real-time / real life simulation set in the typical day to day goings of the Trek crew. As in Half-Life you will be able to verbally interact with anybody on the ship and they you, for example somebody might say, "morning sir!" as they pass you by in the corridor. They will also have a sense of awareness, which can tell when you or other AI characters are near by and talk or act accordingly (seen above example). Moving more into the System Shock2 realm and you will also have the ability to access the ships computers and use or simply view all the information you might usually see in the series (deck schematics, logs etc.).
